We first started working with this client as a consultant during the home buying process – they were looking for something that needed some work, but wanted someone with them who had knowledge about what could be possible from a code, zoning, structural, and design perspective. So we looked together, and found a 2-story condo that, while serviceable, was quite dated.
Mere days after closing, we were hard at work on the design, and came up with a completely open floorplan, reorganized kitchen, and a much, much more useable bedroom layout on the third floor.
With a very tight timeline, we had to work together to prioritize – we didn’t touch the master bath, for example, saving it for a future project – and these clients stayed the course relentlessly. Combine that with an awesome, professional contractor [RK Construction], and the project was delivered with one day to spare before their lease expired on their rental!
We love working on projects for families, and this one was no exception – we included lots of family-friendly touches, like the 10′ island with eating bar, the built-in storage and window seat in the dining room, the tall pantry storage in the kitchen, and the long open spaces for running and playing!
With bright, sunny nooks and 4 bedrooms, there will be plenty of space to grow, entertain, and enjoy – and we’re honored to have been a part of this family’s new start in Arlington!
