Punchlist Spreadsheet
Punchlist Spreadsheet
Want to make your project close-out go smoother? Ready to improve your punchlist procedure? This fully editable Excel spreadsheet, developed in-house right here at Runcible Studios, allows you to generate, track, sort, and manage a punchlist at the end of a construction project.
On big jobs, GCs use software to do this, but on smaller jobs, and on the vast majority of residential projects, there’s no formal process for wrapping up that last 3-5% of a project that seems to drag on and on and on…
[Some thoughts on how to make project close out faster and more efficient.]
It’s easy enough to make a list of incomplete items, but the real value is in tracking those items through, logging decisions made along the way, and ensuring that all responsibilities are tracked and cataloged. This spreadsheet is here to help, and includes:
date the issue was identified
who identified the issue
what the issue is
room/location [in a sortable/customizable dropdown]
category/trade [in a sortable/customizable dropdown]
whether the item is in contract
what the item is waiting on
responsible party
anticipated fix date
completed date
owner sign off
notes
The spreadsheet can be sorted according to room or category/trade, meaning you can post individual lists in each room, generate lists for each trade, and/or sort everything according to what’s been completed, when it’s anticipated to be completed by, etc!
Import the sheet into Google sheets to make it shareable among the whole team - GC, Owner, and Architect.
Don’t let that last 3-5% of a project get away from you - manage it tightly and efficiently til the very end!
